These pharma companies accept that blockchain technology inherent use to track drug provenance and is also helpful to address other challenges faced by the pharma supply chain.
The pharma companies designed a pilot project to bring rapid alerts between supply chain partners if medication recall occurs using blockchain technology. Currently, the system available for patient recall is manual and works with desparate systems. Blockchain technology can serialize the complaints received and also be able to retrieve the location from the recall that arises and notify the supply chain partners.
Hence the project is successful in recording the product movements in the pharmaceutical supply chain in a secured way, triggering product alerts among patients and increase visibility to the pharma supply chain to do an investigation when product recall occurs
